Hitherbest has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating the company’s support for armed forces service personnel, past and present, and their families. The company has subsequently received a Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge made by organisations, including businesses of all sizes, to members of the armed forces community. It recognises their service to their country and is a commitment to act to ensure that they receive fair treatment when looking to access services such as education, housing, employment, healthcare and finance.
All business that sign the covenant agree to work to eliminate disadvantage within their organisation and, where appropriate, to offer members of the armed forces community extra support. Among the commitments Hitherbest has made are a pledge to provide staff who are reservists or cadet volunteers with additional annual leave to carry out their duties. The company will also guarantee an interview to reservists, veterans or dependants who have applied for a job.
Armed forces personnel have a range of transferrable skills which can benefit businesses like Hitherbest, a company committed to providing outstanding customer service. These include good communication, time-management, attention to detail, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
